PharmSaver 2022 Year-End Wrap-Up!

As is traditional at the end of the year PharmSaver has been reflecting. This year our team has seen some change. We closed our New York office and relocated our Florida office to Lutz. Now, most of our team all work together in one place. It’s been great having everyone together to work on projects like all the new enhancements we announced this year!

We brought you a new Drug Detail Pop-Up that makes it easier to quickly access Order History, drug Description information, or Reimbursement details. We updated our home page with a larger navigation bar at the top of the page; a new footer with support information and socials links; a rotating view of our most recent blog posts; and a carousel of the recent best-selling items on the platform. And we updated our order screen to offer you several new ways to search, new filtering options, and new shortcuts to access the information you need without navigating to a different screen.

If you haven’t joined us yet scroll to the bottom of this page and check out the new footer. We are now on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube. We post regularly with updates about the blog page, Tips and Tricks, great GPO deals on Twitter, and of course to say Happy Holidays. Following us on socials will help you stay up to date with the latest blog posts and announcements in a place you already are.

At PharmSaver we have always valued the feedback that we receive from pharmacies. So, in addition to platform enhancements, we want to make sure we are providing you with content that will answer any questions you may have or offer any additional training. Our business thrives if your business thrives. This year we offered assistance with NDC Continuity. We want you to get the best deal possible, but we understand that sometimes you can’t switch NDCs. So we showed you how to shop for NDC Specific products. We also understand that keeping track of your contract parameters and rebates from your primary can be challenging, especially when ordering from multiple places. So we helped you stay on top of your contract compliance with ease. Our President Mike Sosnowik, shared with you about Product Selection and Drug Pricing in Long-term Care Pharmacy and we re-shared an article of his from a few years ago about our company's stance on Pharmacy Data Privacy and Security.

You also told us that having access to more brands with great prices was something that would really make a difference. So, we introduced you to Dockside Partners. Dockside offers a variety of brand only drugs at comparable and discounted prices to your primary wholesaler. This gives you even more purchasing flexibility.

During the past year, we were fortunate to see many of you at the PDS Super Conference in February and the NCPA Annual Conference in October. For those that were newly introduced to our platform, we are so glad to have you here. We hope that you have found a home with us. For those that have been a part of our community for a while, thank you! We appreciate your business and your input. We do our best to take that information and provide you with a product that we hope makes your ordering experience as efficient as possible.

We have lots of great things planned for the new year. We’ve even got an awesome new feature coming in early January. So keep your eyes peeled for the next blog post. Find us on social media so you don’t miss our announcements. We hope that you and your teams take the time to reflect a little as this year comes to a close and congratulate yourselves for all that you have been able to accomplish for your patients and your communities. We know how tirelessly you all work. We have talked with you over the phone about it and we’ve seen it on your social media accounts. So from all of us here at PharmSaver THANK YOU! And have a wonderful New Year!

Did You Know?

Why Black-Eyed Peas Are A Traditional New Year’s Day Staple.

In the south, it’s well-known that black-eyed peas are a popular dish in most homes on New Year’s Day. You’ll find them dressed up with collard greens, stewed tomatoes, and almost always served with cornbread. Have you heard that they are lucky, but never really heard the full explanation, or did you even know that there’s lore surrounding some of the other ingredients as well? In the PharmSaver office we were pretty curious too. We’ve heard different stories from different family members throughout the years, but here’s what we’ve gathered.

  • ▪ Eating black-eyed peas on new years day brings luck. Some insist that you should eat exactly 365 in order to have the best luck for each day of the year.
  • ▪ Other ingredients have meaning too. So eating greens whether collard, mustard or turnip represents paper money and cornbread, gold. Since of course, the black-eyed peas represent coins. Serving your black-eyed peas with stewed tomatoes is a surefire way to ensure overall good health though.
  • ▪ Serving your black-eyed peas to guests with a coin from the pot is a fun, if not potentially disastrous way to receive the best luck for the year.

Some folks have similar traditions that vary slightly depending on the area they are from. A few family members were consulted and the general consensus is that eating any kind of beans would bring you luck in the New Year. Pinto beans with chilis, Lentils cooked with the ham hock from Christmas dinner, or maybe even a version of black-eyed peas that you really enjoy? Check out this recipe from one of our family members, Jake Gaither.

Major Grey’s Sweet Potato and Black-Eyed Pea Salad

16oz black-eyed peas (Pre-cooked- canned, frozen, or dried and cooked in advance per package instructions)

2 sweet potatoes peeled and cubed

½ yellow onion diced

3 cloves of diced garlic

2 Tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp fresh lime juice

2 tbsp fresh chopped parsley

2 tbsp Major Grey’s Chutney

Sautee pre-cooked black-eyed peas with sweet potatoes, garlic, and onion in olive oil until the sweet potato is fork tender. Usually about 15 minutes or so. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl. Mix in remaining ingredients and chill until ready to serve.

We hope you enjoy trying out this fun recipe for black-eyed peas.
